Laguna Club Travels the World

This April, the Club at Laguna began a new program, Brain Gain: Around the World. The kids learned how to be anthropologists, studying the history and cultures of other countries. As our first project, we learned about Capoeira, a dance-like martial art from Brazil. We also taught the kids how to play Luta de Galo meaning Fight of the Rooster.

With a week full of windy days, we decided to make handmade kites! Using paper, straws, string, and a    little bit of luck, our kites were flying high.

The second stop on our world exploration brought us to Ghana, where we learned about Call and Response as a musical style. We then explored the history and art of Ghanian Kente Cloth, and made our own wall hangings out of construction paper.
