The Tom Maas Club received 20 chrome books and a case of mini robots, so that the 4th and 5th grade could learn about coding. The program uses a software app called Sphero.edu, which is used to control the robots. The app also teaches our members what coding is and how to do it. For example, using the chrome books with the the software app, they can draw shapes and letters on the chrome book and the robot will follow their movements. Using the software app they can also use blocks, which act almost like puzzle pieces, to drag and edit, which then causes the robot to spin, make noise and flash lights. During one of these sessions, members got to compete in a makeshift obstacle course race.
