Learning About Lungs

Our Members learned about how our lungs work using a paper bag, marker, and a straw. This activity was a great way for our members to learn some new words and their meanings. Some new vocabularly include:

  • Trachea – a large touch tube that connects the top of the throat to bronchi (sometimes called a windpipe)

  • Bronchi – two branching tubes that start at the tracheal and then lead to right and left lungs respectively

  • Bronchioles – even smaller tubes that come off the bronchi in the lungs

  • Alveoli – tiny sacs off of each bronchioles

Our Members used these materials to simulate how our lungs work and that our lungs look like trees upside down in our body. How cool is that !
