Teens Are Training to Become Peers for Prevention

Members of The Club–the teen center within the Railroad Clubhouse in Santa Maria–are benefitting from a partnership with CAPSLO.  On Fridays, teens participating in our Summer programming spend time with Emma, a trained educator, who leads a discussion on what is, and what is not a healthy relationship.

Through group discussion and written work teens will have the opportunity to explore important issues related to interpersonal relationships at a time in their lives when these issues are so important. After 8 weeks of sessions, they will be certified as Teen Violence Prevention Specialists. Healthy habits are at the core of everything we teach at the boys & Girls Club and this partnership with a local organization will help set up our teens for success.
