Teens Get Inspired at Inspired Flight

Recently, teens from the Railroad Club’s STEAM leadership group, Full STEAM Ahead,  participated in a private tour at Inspired Flight Technologies—a drone manufacturing company located in San Luis Obispo.  While there, teens learned about some of the engineering and production processes involved in developing unmanned industrial drones as well as the career path potential to work in this sector.  Our Club Members had such an informative and engaging afternoon as they met with the CEO and COO as well as the general and production floor manager as part of their tour.  Inspired Flight CEO Rick Stollmeyer, is a strong advocate of STEAM education for local youth as well as educating teens on career pathways in the sciences.  He is the founder of the Stollmeyer STEAM Challenge—a matching gift program to Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast whereby he has made a $300,000 matching gift commitment to support STEAM education for our Club Members.    To learn more about how to get involved with Full STEAM Ahead or our Stollmeyer STEAM Club, please contact Director of Teen Services, Jeanette Blanco at [email protected]
