As part of the national Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, our organization celebrates the extraordinary achievements of our club youth through the Youth of the Year program. As our organizational Youth of the Year, our representative serves as a role model for younger club members and shines a spotlight on our movement within our community. It is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive.
This year the Boys & Girls club of MidCentral Coast has selected Abraham Carrillo Galindo to represent our organization at our Coastal Area Council Youth of the Year competition which includes submitting their resume & personal letters of reference, writing several essays, a 15 minute personal interview, and a public speaking opportunity. Needless to say, it’s a lengthy process and we are beyond proud to have Abraham represent our Club!
Abraham is a senior at Santa Maria High School and is actively involved with both our Stollmeyer STEAM Challenge program as well as serving as our Keystone Club president. Beyond the club, he is involved in several community service groups like Cause and Youth Making Change. He has a 4.5 GPA and is graduating at the top of his class. He was also recently accepted and has committed for this Fall to Brown University as part of the National Questbridge program.
