Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast officially has Torch Club in three sites now! The organization had previously started Torch Club at the Ron Estabillo Clubhouse and a joint one between the Railroad Clubhouse and Evans Park Clubhouse, but now plans to start at the Tom Maas Clubhouse.
Torch Club is a program BGCMCC runs with ‘tweens,’ aged 11-13 years old. Torch Club teaches them how to develop leadership skills, good character and integrity.
Each Club chooses four officers: president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Torch Club focuses on four areas: service to the club, service to the community, education and health.
Some of the Clubs’ Torch Club members serve as Jr. Staff and run a snack shack at the Clubs. Others have already started with community service projects around their Clubs. Evans Park members are currently cleaning the housing around the Club there, while the Ron Estabillo members are going to Oso Flaco to pick up trash.
