A Fun Filled February at the Tom Maas Club

February at the Tom Maas Boys & Girls Club was filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and skill-building activities that supported members’ overall development. Members engaged in various arts and crafts projects, such as creating flower hand bouquets, painting vases, and making love bug crafts, friendship bracelets, and molding clay creations. These activities strengthened fine motor skills, encouraged self-expression, and fostered social connections as members worked together and shared their creations.

Additionally, members explored scientific concepts through hands-on experiences like melting beads and learning about gardening by planting their own seeds to take home.Physical activity played a significant role this month, with members enjoying games like capture the flag, which promoted teamwork, strategy, and gross motor skill development. Basketball drills led by a staff member who was a former player provided members with mentorship and helped improve their coordination, endurance, and athletic ability.

The TK and kindergarten group had a particularly engaging experience with a sensory play activity, digging through a kiddie pool filled with dirt and objects to learn about fossils and dinosaurs. These activities nurtured curiosity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning in a fun and active way.

The SMART Girls program focused on essential life skills, including hygiene education and healthy eating habits. Members learned the importance of self-care and nutrition while working in teams to plan balanced meals, reinforcing decision-making and teamwork. A highlight of the month was the jungle-themed family movie night, where members helped create decorations, fostering creativity and a sense of community. Events like these bring families together and create a welcoming environment, ensuring members feel valued and engaged. Through a mix of educational, creative, and physical activities, February was a month of growth, exploration, and fun at the Tom Maas Boys & Girls Club.
