February 1st – March 1st is Black History Month. During this month, we celebrate achievements and contributions and the rich history of African Americans. At Tom Maas Clubhouse we are celebrating, as well as teaching our members about the culture and the contributions from many important African American figures, such as activists like Martin Luther King Jr and Angela Davis, to musicians like Louis Armstrong and Stevie Wonder.
Utilizing our own creativity, we decorated the main entry way, with various images, quotes and stories from famous and historical African Americans, ranging from activists, athletes, musicians, and those who fought against slavery. Our members have enjoyed seeing this display everyday this month, and we are confident even with simple acts like these, they are learning about this important month we honor.
