Kids and Community Partners Unite For Back a Youth Night in Guadalupe

Dozens of community members partnered together with our Club Kids at the Ron Estabillo Clubhouse in Guadalupe for a night of fun and mentorship at Back a Youth Night on May 28.

The night started with a Candy Land-inspired icebreaker, where our pairs rolled the dice and followed the path, which included fun questions to ask each other. Once everyone had dined on their hotdog and chips dinner, and indulged in a cupcake baked by our very own Anna Libbon, the group split up into three groups to try out some fun activities throughout the Club.

In the Games Room, mentors competed against Club Kids in a rock, paper, scissors showdown on a hula hoop lane. Points were earned if one side made it to the other and the friendly competition was on in full force!

Meanwhile, in the Arts & Crafts Room, tables of Kids and mentors created DIY kaleidoscopes with simple supplies like Ziploc bags and cardboard paper rolls. The art project took the teams step-by-step through the process to make a beautiful, interactive piece to take home.

And in the Library, it was all about invisible ink! Mentors helped their Kids draw or write out their secret messages that would soon appear after some air and baking soda. Once complete, it was time for some Giant Jenga and other interactive board games.

With the support of the Trilogy Volunteer Group, each Club Kid went home a winner with a raffle prize going to all of our participants. Three lucky Kids also went home with two scooters and a blue bike.

Thank you to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Central Coast Foundation and Driscoll’s for being our Diamond Sponsors for the year! Also, thank you to SESLOC Credit Union for being a Presenting Sponsor of all of our Back a Youth Night events throughout the year. Other sponsors of the event included Columbia Bank, Mexican Ladies Social Club and Rotary Club of Santa Maria Breakfast. Lastly, BGCMCC would like to thank Charlene Estabillo and the Kiwanis Club of Guadalupe for being the dinner donor of the night.

Our final Back a Youth Night in 2026 is on Thursday, September 24, at the Railroad Clubhouse in Santa Maria. Mentors can register online at BAYNightSM.givesmart.com or contact Kelly Brickey at [email protected].
