Longtime Board Member Honored as Philanthropist of the Year

Tim Murphy Honored by the Santa Barbara Foundation

Congratulations are in order for Tim Murphy, a member of our Board of Directors for being honored by the Santa Barbara Foundation as their Philanthropist of the Year during the annual Celebrate Philanthropy! event in Santa Maria.  The Celebrate Philanthropy honor recognizes individuals, couples, or families who, through direct service or financial support, have demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable work to make the Santa Maria Valley a better place.

Tim has served on our board for over 25 years and has held leadership positions including Chair of the Resource Development Committee, Ag for Youth Golf Committee Chair,  President of the Board, and almost every other leadership position possible.  Given his extraordinary level of commitment, he has been named Board Member of the Year by his peer.  His generosity of service extends to charitable giving as well with membership in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Lifetime Giving Circle. This honor is awarded to donors who have made cumulative gifts over $250,000 to their local Boys & Girls Club.  He and his wife, Katy, were inducted into the BGCA’s highest giving circle, The Jeremiah Milbank Society, in 2015.  After many years on the Board, he still views his service as a way to give back to the community by helping children achieve the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.

“Tim is an integral part of our organization,” said Michael Boyer, nominator and Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast. “He is a long-term board member that has significant impact financially and in resource development. We are thrilled to honor him and his efforts.”

Thank you, Tim, for all you’ve done and continue to do for children on the Central Coast.  We are so proud of you!
