Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in Mental Health First Aid learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
Boys & Girls Club staff recently had an in-service where they learned to identify the early warning signs of suicide, common causes of suicidal behavior, and the skills to prevent it.
For more information on the Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) training, contact our training partners Transitions Mental Health Association or Santa Barbara County Dept. of Behavioral Wellness.
