Shandon’s Spring Break: Week 2

April 6th-10th was a week filled with eggs, spring vibes, and smiles. That Monday we had an Easter egg hunt. Members were filled with egg-citement as they searched for bright, colorful treasures scattered across our field and playground. There were enough gold eggs for all Members to find at least 2 and by the end of our hunt, everyone got to enjoy a few candies and toys from the eggs. We also visited the Shandon Library twice and had an absolute blast with the Easter activities our favorite librarian, Ms. Joey had planned. Once again, a big Thank You to her for always welcoming us with a smile and awesome activities.

On April 7th, Members received a presentation from the Bike and Pedestrian Safety Education Program. We learned about safety while walking, riding a bike, crossing the street, etc. At the end, helmets were fitted and given to any Members in need of one. For art, Members designed flowers using watercolors, a paper plate sloth, toilet paper roll butterfly, a paper plate lily pad, and a pipe cleaner dragonfly. During science Members experimented making sensory rain out of shaving foam, dancing popcorn, blown up balloons using baking soda, cinnamon underwater, and slime!! A few favorite team building games were matching drinks, team races, and a waiter game. Finally, our Members have mastered their origami skills and created a butterfly, bird, jumping frog, hummingbird, and boat.
