Shandon’s Summer Smiles!

Summer at the Shandon Club has been nothing but fun, laughter, and sunshine. A variety of enjoyable activities have been done by Members including, origami, team building games, art crafts, science, taking off-campus trips, and much more!

Origami has been patiently guided by Ms. Itzel, and a few favorites to recreate were a jellyfish, butterfly, a lotus flower, and turtle. Team Building Activities have been energetically led by Ms. Carina. The most enjoyed games by our Members during this time were potato sack racing, cup matching, caterpillar relay, and a hoola hoop challenge. Art’s been creatively led by Mrs. Angela and a few favorites consisted of a dot-to-dot house from the movie Up, a summer bucket list, a refreshing lemonade made with toilet paper roll, and a turtle using a coffee filter. Ms. Czarina carefully led science time and a few favored experiments that were making quicksand using cornstarch and water, Ice Cream in a bag with simple ingredients, body sugar scrub using brown sugar, a bouncy ball, and Tie Dye shirts that turned out looking absolutely amazing!

Our off-campus trips have led us to visiting the Shandon Library, CW Clarke Park. and Shandon Market. At the library Members had a great time reading books & making crafts that Mrs. Joey had planned. At the park, members enjoyed playing on the structures, had a volleyball match by the sand court, and played a few rounds of tag. Finally, at the market, Members were able to purchase delicious food/snack items including asada fries, cheeseburgers, chips, ice cream, etc.

On our last day, Friday June 27th, we planned for everyone who made tie dye shirts to wear and take awesome group pictures. Staff as well as Youth, savored Oreo flavored ice cream made by Ms. Zar in which the ingredients were kindly donated by one our Members. We made an ice cream scoop craft and glitter slime was made during science!  Staff can’t wait to see our Members again next school year and hope to welcome new faces as well.
