Team Attends 119th Boys & Girls Clubs National Conference

Fourteen Team Members and our Board Chair were fortunate to attend the 119th National Boys & Girls Club Conference in San Diego in early May.  It was a 3-day event packed with inspiring keynote speeches, motivational and informative break out sessions, rejuvenating meetings with Club staff from around the country and a wonderful opportunity for us to grow as a team.  Covering topics ranging from safety, board development, fundraising successes, high impact programming ideas and personal growth, there wasn’t a topic or idea we didn’t get to explore and learn about.  The highlights of the conference were the great 5K fun run/walk most of us did around the San Diego waterfront with our own Kelly Brickey–events manager–coming in 1st in the womens division as well as the super-inspiring Alumni Hall of Fame ceremony where a handful of celebrities and major leaders in their fields are inducted based on their continued service to the Boys & Girls Clubs Mission.  The importance of their Club experience shaped all of them and reminds us that the next doctor curing a disease, the next major sports phenomenon, or the next musical genius might be in our Clubs right now and we are positively shaping their great future every day!

This years national theme was “United for Impact” and a new marketing plan and slogan “American Needs Club Kids” was also rolled out.  After this conference we are united more than ever and feel it’s more true than ever that Club Kids are worth everything we are doing!
