In order to be as successful as possible, the Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast has tapped two community leaders who are eager to be part of the growth and opportunities in front of the organization. Gary Borjan, banking executive, and Michelle Wright, Veterinary Practice Manager for PETS Hospital group have joined the Board of Directors and began their service at the October, 2023 board meeting.
Gary Borjan has been in the banking industry for close to 25 years, having performed the role of Vice President- Regional Manager at several local community banks. Gary has a very strong passion for giving back, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our community and social justice which is what drives him to give back and participate with many community organizations. Gary’s past and current roles include President and Treasurer of the Board for the GALA Pride and Diversity Center, President of the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo Daybreak, Vice President and Community Outreach Director for Young Professionals Networking Group, and member of the Finance Committee for Habitat for Humanity SLO County. Gary’s most recent role was the Founder of SLO Social Group, a community organization dedicated to creating events that are safe, free and welcoming to ALL. Gary is very committed to the future of our area which is why he knew Boys and Girls Club was the place for him. “I am excited to work with this Board to continue to create safe spaces for our local youth. The Boys and Girls Club holds a very special place in my heart, and I look forward to being a part of its future.”
In his free time, Gary enjoys performing on stage with local theater groups, traveling the world as much as possible, and enjoying incredible adventures with his partner Brian and their two French bulldogs, Scarlett and Carmine.
Michelle Wright moved to the Central Coast from the Fresno area in 2008. It had been her lifelong dream to live on the coast. She and her daughters, Katelyn and Megan, have enjoyed the SLO life after their move to Atascadero. In 2015 she married her husband, Ethan, and moved to Arroyo Grande where her family grew to include his son Ethan and his wife Danyele. Michelle began her career in the medical insurance field and quickly moved from claims processing to Regional Customer Service management. Opting for a life change, she is currently working in veterinary medicine at PETS Hospital in Orcutt and Pismo Beach Vet Clinic in Pismo Beach as the Practice Manager, where she oversees hospital administration, including financial management, recruitment, and human resources; managing teams of employees, coaching them on professional development to improve their skills. In their spare time, she and her family love traveling, exploring new foods, cooking, watching movies, and reading.
“We are thrilled to welcome these accomplished individuals to our board. Their passion and enthusiasm for our cause and their diverse skills will be invaluable as we work together to make a positive impact on the lives of the young people in our community” shares Dan Lillard, Chair of the Board of Directors for the organization.
