35th Annual Back A Youth Night A GREAT Time in Santa Maria

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast was excited for another year of the annual Back A Youth Night at the Railroad Club in Santa Maria held on September 25th.   For 35 years, this annual event has brought together Club Members and local community leaders and business professionals for a night of fun, food, and bonding.  Club Members are paired with adult advocates for the night where they enjoyed dinner, multiple activities—the same high quality programs Club Member enjoy as part of highly successful after-school programming—and spent time getting to know each other.

“Mentorship, career exploration, and community service are major pillars in Boys & Girls Clubs programming and philosophy for building great futures for kids.  Pairing kids with local adults who care about them and the success of our programs helps make meaningful connections for the kids AND the adults,” shares Anna Libbon, VP of Programs for BGCMCC.  The mentor/youth pairs enjoyed learning and playing Bocce ball on one of the Clubs outdoor rec spaces, STEM programming where they built a spinner using copper wire and a battery, and then dabbled in some arts and crafts by taking a photo and making a mini easel to display it at home.  Dinner was donated by Panda Express along with a huge assortment of gourmet cookies donated by Gina’s Piece of Cake.  Door prizes, t-shirts, and other goodies make the evening even more fun for the attendees.
