The month of April has been filled with a handful of egg-citing eggs-periences for our Shandon Members! At the beginning of the month, our talented middle schoolers decorated our windows with Easter art to add onto the spring spirit. During spring break, everyone had a blast during craft, science, and team-building time. Demonstrating our youth’s artistic skills, teaching cool experiments and improving members’ relationships with one another are qualities our club prioritizes.
Craft time has been a lot of fun, and the art wall is as beautiful as ever with pieces that included using paper plates to make chicks hatching and bunny faces. Toilet paper rolls were used to make colorful bunnies. Eggs were decorated using Q-Tips and tissue paper. And the top favorites were designing an Easter basket, bunny house, and a bunny outlined with oil pastels.
Science activities contained making silly putty using soap, a walking rainbow using water, paper towels and food dye. A fizzy rainbow with baking soda and water. And creating ice cream in a bag by mixing milk, cream, sugar and vanilla was a top favorite!
Team building activities incorporated cup stacking with a balloon, balancing a straw into a bottle, pom-pom balancing on a spoon, balloon basket, cup stacking with yarn, pencil pulling, ball balancing into cups, dice stacking, ball pull, cup flip, candy cane drop, ball switch, and noodle passing with feet.
Lastly, to top off the Easter magic, Staff prepared an egg hunt for our members to enjoy and take home. The Shandon club hopes everyone had a wonderful Easter filled with love and joy.
