Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast celebrated 60 years of serving local youth with a community birthday party on Tuesday, January 13, at the Railroad Clubhouse in Santa Maria.
The party welcomed dozens of community members and local supporters, including Board Members, alumni and a few dignitaries. Distinguished guests included Mayor of Santa Maria Alice Patino, Councilmember Carlos Escobedo, Councilmember Gloria Flores and City Manager Dave Rowlands.
Guests were treated to refreshments, snacks and cake in honor of the six decades that Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast has been helping kids in the local area. What started as a Boys’ Club in 1966 has spurred into 10 Clubs across two counties, serving communities like Santa Maria, Guadalupe, Atascadero, Creston, Shandon and Paso Robles. The organization continues to support more than 5,000 children annually, with more than 93,000 people served throughout its tenure.
The event kicked off a year of many celebrations and fundraisers ahead, including Standing With Youth: An Advocacy Event on January 27, the Annual Spring Auction & Gala on May 9, the 27th Annual Ag For Youth Golf Tournament on July 31, the 7th Annual Crush It Golf Tournament on October 2 and three Back a Youth Nights spread throughout the year at our three mainstay Clubs.
