The Shandon Elementary School hosted a Trunk-Or-Treat event after school. After having our Members dress in their Halloween costumes, our Staff accompanied them trunk-or-treating and had a total blast seeing that their teachers as well as parents decorated their vehicles in such a spooky and creative way! Themes included Wednesday, Candyland, Winnie the Pooh, Tinkerbell and many more!
To continue the fun, once returning to the club, Members enjoyed participating in a team-building game where they balanced Legos on popsicle sticks and made a hedgehog sensory craft that the kids loved. Finally, Mrs. Angela face-painted a few Members to complete their look, and top off the day with Halloween spirit. Then we celebrated October birthdays and enjoyed delicious chocolate covered pretzels made by the staff.
The day after Halloween, our Club celebrated Dia de Los Muertos. Staff made and decorated a beautiful “ofrenda” with pictures of loved ones from Members as well as BGC Staff. Corn dogs with mango juice were enjoyed followed by a day of the dead inspired skull coloring contest where candy bags were given out to Members. We allowed Members to talk about their loved ones who were on the “ofrenda” and after had lots of fun playing a game of Coco themed Loteria while Mrs. Angela face-painted Day of the Dead inspired skulls on the rest of our Members. We topped off our celebration with a movie called A Book of Life while enjoying a bag of yummy popcorn. Shandon Staff loved seeing our Member’s come together for such a beautiful celebration.
