With the help of board member, Daniel Rios, our teens had an opportunity to visit the Santa Maria Police Station and check out the crime lab. We were greeted and shown around by Sgt Diaz, who previously worked for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Guadalupe many years ago. Sgt Diaz showed us different departments and areas of the station including dispatch, crime lab, SWAT vehicles, records, holding cells. and conference rooms. Our teens were able to watch as he turned on the sirens and lights on one of the police cars and they were very eager to jump into the SWAT cars. In the crime lab, we had a chance to see how fingerprints are collected from items and the different machines and chemicals used in the process.
We greatly appreciate the Santa Maria Police Department for having us and for their service to our community. We had such a fun time!
