Reunited and It Felt So Good

The first ever Board of Directors Reunion was nothing short of a smash hit!  Held at the Railroad Clubhouse in Santa Maria, the evening hosted about 50 current and former board members and family members who came together to reminisce, rekindle relationships and enjoy the Railroad Clubhouse—many guests had not been to the Club in quite some time.  All the smiles, hugs and laughter were the goal of the evening and it was clear that the evening was a pleasure for all involved.

In addition to spending time with their cohorts, former board members got to meet current staff, especially Maria Fabula our organizations dynamic new CEO.  After compelling stories about board service from Boys & Girls Club legends, Dottie Lyons, Tom Martinez, and Brooks Wise, Maria shared a short presentation about the state of our Clubs and goals for 2025 and beyond.  Attendees also played a fun scavenger hunt game that got them to tour the entire Railroad Clubhouse so they could see some of our newest additions like our renovated STEM lab, the outdoor amphitheater and our state of the art outdoor sport court.  Getting treated to a bottle of wine for completing the hunt was just the icing on the cake!

What started as a simple idea over lunch between Donna France, Donna Cross, Kathryn Bernard, Terri Lee Coleman and Mary Morton, grew into a fabulous reality and for that we are thankful.  Special thanks also go to Greg and Donna France for hosting the bar and for volunteering to be bartenders for the evening.  And a special evening at the Boys & Girls Club would not be complete without being treated to one of Anna Libbon’s famous chocolate chip cookies.  Not only did Anna bring her cookies–beloved Bill Libbon was also there as a special treat for former board members.  Bill continues to be very involved in the Clubs and has a special role in maintaining connections with our Alumni Members.   Because this event was so successful and appreciated by the attendees, keep an eye out for another opportunity to reunite in 2025—the more the merrier!
