With Christmas around the corner, the Shandon members have been having a winter blast with off-campus trips, decorating our space, arts & crafts, and even gardening to prepare for winter break!
Our off-campus trips have consisted of visiting our local Shandon Library. Fun activities that Mrs. Joey has had for our Members are getting to play with kinetic sand, completing a Christmas tree craft , and a Christmas scavenger hunt. We never fail to have a great time at the library and cannot wait for our future 2025 trips!
Our preschoolers have had a snowball of fun decorating our Club room! They’ve added their own ornaments onto a felt Christmas tree, made trees with pipe cleaners and beads, snow globes with fake snow and clear cups, and also created reindeer and gingerbread girls/boys using paper plates and paper bags. For sensory activities they’ve also gotten to play with fake snow and make winter slime!
Our 6-9 year old Members have recently made colorful sand dough sculptures/pottery. Dinosaurs, rainbows, turtles, and unicorns were a few different options that our youth were able to create and absolutely loved!
For our older group of Members, Ms. Carina led a glow in the dark slime activity, Mrs. Angela guided members into creating Christmas themed melting beads, and Ms. Czarina led a sewing activity where Members were able to sew and make different animals including a koala, lion, elephant, giraffe, etc.
Lastly, our Members were invited to visit the Elementary School’s garden by Ms. Debby, the school’s Garden Educator. Our Members powered up their working hands and helped Ms. Debby collect and organize any leaves and fruit off the ground and place them into specific bins. They also took turns helping dig holes with shovels and snacked on tasty pomegranates in between. Thank You Ms. Debby for the awesome opportunity! We can’t wait to visit again.:)
