Shop With A Cop Makes Holiday Dreams Come True

The holiday spirit is alive and well as the Santa Maria Police Department partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast to bring joy to local children through the upcoming “Shop with a Cop” event.

Taking place on Wednesday, December 13, 2024, this heartwarming event will treat 50 Club members from the Santa Maria and Guadalupe Boys & Girls Clubs to a holiday shopping spree alongside officers from the Santa Maria Police Department. The event is designed to spread holiday cheer while fostering meaningful relationships between local youth and law enforcement.

“Shop with a Cop” provides an opportunity for Club members to select gifts for their families and themselves, creating lasting holiday memories while promoting positive interactions with our community’s law enforcement officers.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Santa Maria Police Department for this incredible event,” said Maria Fabula, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast. “This is more than a shopping trip – it’s about creating connections, building trust, and making the season brighter for the children we serve.”

Lt. Daniel Rios of the Santa Maria Police Department, and board member for Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast, expressed similar enthusiasm, noting, “Events like these remind us of the power of community. Our officers are honored to share in the joy of the season with these amazing kids.”

Funds raised to support the shopping experience of local young people come from proceeds of the SMPD’s recent “Cops & Cars” Car show held in Santa Maria.
