Teens Spend Week at National Keystone Conference

Our Keystone members had the privilege of attending the 58th Annual Keystone Conference, held in Chicago, Illinois. Keystone, Boys & Girls Club of America’s premiere teen character and leadership program, is designed to help develop good character and positive leadership for teens with a purpose to create and maintain high standards of character, citizenship, health and education for teens to grow into responsible, productive adults.

We were able to take five of our members this year to learn and be inspired by this year’s theme of Connect, Create, Captivate. Breakout sessions centered around two topics. The first was Teen Mental Health with sessions such as “Coping and Connecting with Others” and “Finding Light through Teen Depression”. The second topic was Teen Issues & Awareness with sessions such as “Unpacking Stereotypes” and “Finding Comfort in Your Skin”.

Outside of the conference, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Chicago. We hopped on a double decker bus and took in a lot of the sites the city had to offer. Guest speakers at this year’s conference included Common (rapper & actor), Chamique Holdsclaw (WNBA legend and gold medalist), and Alex Webber (Motivational speaker & TV host). Overall we had an amazing trip with some extra perks of winning raffle prizes along the way.
