Tom Maas was open for the Veterans Day holiday and the Members seemed to have a lot of fun. They enjoyed a yummy breakfast that included eggs and potatoes with a side of delicious hot chocolate. Members also had a blast getting their faces painted!
Members had a blast making slime for fun Friday. They had so much fun getting to make their very own slime and customizing their slime colors!
Members at Tom Maas made little squishies fly with parachutes that they made. These parachutes were made up of tissue paper, string, tape, and squishies. They learned the science behind how parachutes work and the importance of their use for skydiving.
Members participated in a team building activity in which they used different sizes of hula hoops and their hands. They had to work together as a team to get through the hula hoops while holding hands and making sure not to let go. This taught the Members communication skills and teamwork!
Members had some messy fun getting to make cloud dough. This dough is made up of hair conditioner and flour. The conditioner and flour mixed together made a really soft dough, almost like playdough!
Staff at Tom Maas made a wonderful and fun movie experience for the Members. They made cool signs of what movie the Members were going to watch and also got the popcorn machine fired. They also did face painting for the Members. Members had so much fun, thanks to Staff!
The Shandon Elementary School hosted a Trunk-Or-Treat event after school. Our Shandon Members finally had the opportunity to attend their first field-trip this school year! Members learned more about counting with this fun ice cream cone activity. The paper ice cream cones had numbers which represented how many scoops of ice cream were supposed to be on the cone. Members used tongs to “scoop” the ice cream (cotton balls) onto the cones.
Members had a blast getting to create these spooky, yet tasty, treats. Members made fun edible spider webs using melted white chocolate and pretzels. After the spiderwebs were settled, Members were able to enjoy their yummy snacks!
Members played a game called “Burger Restaurant” where they were shelling out orders left and right. Members had to work together to complete orders for the Staff. As part of the spooky season, Members created fun ghost plates during one of their activities. They used traces of their hands, streamers, plates, string, and markers to create their spooky friends!
Members at the Club created paper airplanes as one of their activities. They used colorful plastic straws, paper, and tape. They were also taught about the factors that go into how paper planes work, such as the altitude, weight, and force (throw). Members were able to create their own little robots during one of their activities. Materials used throughout this project were tinfoil, toilet paper rolls, pipe cleaners, pom poms, and much more. Members had so much fun creating their unique looking friends.
